Ford Focus ST-R Racecar

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Here's some great news for car racing enthusiasts from central Florida... The all-new Ford Focus ST-R racecar will soon be available in the US. Designed and made as a driver’s car, the Focus ST-R is completely revved up for competitions (ST stands for Sport Technologies). The high-performance car comes with the best-in-class brakes, handling and powertrain, and has been developed as a cost-effective car with global technical specifications. Ford says the Focus ST-R can compete successfully in multiple series with only minor modifications.
A car built for the track by Ford Racing, the Focus ST-R features a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with FIA-regulation roll cage, a track-tuned suspension and upgraded brakes. The Focus ST-R, the latest in the Ford’s race car series, joins the league of Mustang FR500C, Mustang FR500S, Mustang Cobra Jet, Boss 302R and Boss 302S which have made big names in racing circles. More good news is that the development work on the Focus ST-R will also lead to the sale of a wide array of Ford Racking parts to racers and enthusiasts.

The Focus ST-R was showcased at Frankfurt Motor show in Germany and seen as a part of Ford’s aggressive presence in motorsports. It is also widely perceived that Ford has applied engineering and development expertise in race cars like the Focus ST-R to replicate success achieved by the Fiesta in RallyCross and the X Games.

“Built Ford Tough” – It’s Personal Now

Friday, August 12, 2011

Having worked under a Ford rooftop for years, I’ve long-since been aware of Ford’s quality and safety, and everyone knows the slogan… but last month I started taking it to heart. It was July, the kids were in the pool and Mom was visiting to take part in my world-class, buttermilk barbeque chicken. It was a perfect Central-Florida summer day.

On the way home, on the I-4 between Deltona and Daytona Beach, Mom’s day took a turn for the worse… an accident. Ironically, it was because she was avoiding an accident ahead – but the driver behind didn’t notice and drove into the back of her car at a high enough speed to leave 173 feet of skid marks! This impact, of course, then pushed Mom’s car into the car ahead, leaving a 2003 Taurus crushed at both ends… and that’s the beautiful part. In 2003, the Ford Taurus was a 5-star crash-rated vehicle.

You can see from the pictures the severity of the crash, both from the rear and subsequently at the front, but to me, the most important picture is that of the driver-side cabin. The Taurus’s UniBody construction absorbed all of the impact, and although the trunk was literally pushed flat against the rear seats, no part of the passenger cabin was harmed. Mom walked away with only bruises, and those were only from the seatbelt – she never touched either the steering wheel or an airbag, as the Taurus’s crash sensors knew this wasn’t the type of crash that called for an airbag. The airbag did deploy on the passenger side because it detected there was no seatbelt fastened.
Mom now feels safer in her new Ford SUV, but I think we’ll all continue to be a Ford family after this. Thanks to Ford-tough construction, she’ll be coming back again and again for that buttermilk-barbeque…

unfortunately, the vehicle that caused the crash from behind didn’t fare quite as well at all…

Two of 2009’s Best-Selling Hybrids Can be found at Ford of Clermont

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

With most vehicle manufacturers on a 5 – 7 year model cycle, car buyers can easily save a significant amount of money and still have that brand-new look. Buying a used car comes with its risks – an unknown vehicle history, maintenance issues that can be invisible to the eye but devastating to the wallet – but these are all risks that can be eliminated by purchasing your car from a reliable dealership.

If you’re in the Orlando or Leesburg areas of Florida and in need of a smart, economical change, visit Ford of Clermont for some of 2009’s best options – the Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Ford Escape Hybrid – two market leaders that can deliver more features than most standard models in their class while garnering as many as 41 mpg. The two Ford models were named among the Best Selling Hybrid Cars of 2009.

By comparison, the Ford Fusion has a more upscale interior than the Prius and better fuel economy than the Camry Hybrid. What pushes this hybrid mid-size sedan dangerously close to entry-level luxury are the smooth driving dynamics, which deliver a ride as smooth as that of a traditional car complete with all the creature comforts. Pair that with an estimated 41mpg in the city, and the Ford Fusion is an option that’s hard to beat on the road but easy on the wallet.

For those with a larger load, the Ford Escape Hybrid was the best-selling hybrid SUV in 2009. Just like the Fusion Hybrid, the Escape Hybrid sacrifices none of the utility or performance of a traditional SUV, but brings home a far more welcomed 34mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Those numbers actually made the Ford Escape Hybrid the most fuel-efficient SUV for the year, and those numbers are still there to be had with the even lower price of purchasing pre-owned.

The argument for the Ford Fusion Hybrid was easily encouraged in January at the Detroit Auto Show, when the 2011 model was named the North American Car of the Year and complimented for its silhouette resembling the Mercedes-Benz R-Class! With the nation amidst a strong push for 1 million hybrids on the road by 2015, it’s now possible for Ford drivers to look to the past and save money stepping toward the future!

Certified Pre-Owned Ford - not just a great value, it means great peace of mind

Friday, January 28, 2011

Late in the 20th century, when the median transaction price for a new car passed $25,000, the concept of leasing was born. While it enabled consumers to pay a low down payment and only the depreciation of the car for the duration of the lease, it left dealerships with an abundance of low-mileage used cars in need of new drivers. The concept of Certified Pre-Owned was the solution – subject the vehicles to rigorous mechanical inspection, make an accurate assessment of the remaining life of the car, and sell it with the reassurance of a warranty.

With such a guarantee, and therefore alleviation of risk and anxiety, why would consumers still purchase from a private seller? “CPO” vehicles typically cost $1,500 - $2,000 more than a privately sold used car, but forgoing that premium also means forgoing any legal recourse if anything goes wrong with your new purchase. In fact, the discount found in buying privately is only valuable to those who don’t mind the risk, and who can accept a “what you do or don’t see is what you get” chance. Considering that chance may cost you far more than the extra cost of purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from a dealership, any buyer’s best bet is to buy something with certainty to begin with.

If you’re in the Orlando or Leesburg areas of Florida, wondering what value you’ll find in a Certified Pre-Owned Ford, consider this: your vehicle is guaranteed to be less than six years old with less than 80,000 miles, but the real value comes in the Ford CPO package. Each Certified Pre-Owned Ford has been through a 169-point inspection, covering everything from safety features to the power train and even comfort amenities. With every CPO Ford comes a Vehicle History Overview Report, a power train warranty, an additional comprehensive warranty, and great financing options. Just 25 miles from Orlando, ford dealer Ford of Clermont takes pride in offering car buyers the peace of mind of quality used vehicles and has the track record of real customer satisfaction and service to prove it. At Ford of Clermont you can even go further with an Extended Service Plan that’s just right for you and your vehicle. What are the most popular used Fords? The F-150, the Edge, and of course, the legendary Ford Mustang. Visit Ford of Clermont’s pre-owned inventory to find yours - especially while each purchase comes with your choice of a free iPad or 50" Plasma TV!

Ford releasing Software Development Kit to developers

Monday, November 15, 2010

Ford of Clermont is pleased to announce that Ford Motor Company is releasing its Software Development Kit (SDK) to smart phone developers, who will now be able to modify existing applications to work with Ford's in-car SYNC entertainment system through voice recognition. This allows for safer, more convenient hands-free operation while driving, a move Ford hopes will help forge a more open, collaborative bond with the wireless, consumer electronics, and software developer communities.

A recent study found that 46 percent of adult smart phone users have applications on their phones, and nearly as many use them while commuting. Such drivers can now look forward to even easier access to features like personalized news, entertainment, navigation, and traffic, and stock price tracking. Possible future partnerships include Pandora internet radio, Stitcher smart radio and Orangatame’s OpenBeak.

Ford Power Stroke Wins Diesel Engine Shootout

Monday, November 8, 2010

Leading Florida dealer Ford of Clermont is proud to announce a victory for the Ford F-250 Super Duty Pickup, which just won the first-ever Best Engines Diesel Shootout -- a contest jointly conducted by Ward's and Fleet Owner magazines.

Ford emerged the winner with its 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8, a clean-sheet engine from Michigan with a mighty 735 pounds-feet of torque. The Power Stroke proved better than competing entries from Chevrolet and Dodge for its lightweight construction, innovative materials, sophisticated after-treatment, clever packaging, and its class-leading ability to tow 14,000 pounds. From its composite oil pan and compacted graphite block to the cleverly packaged small-frame dual compressor turbocharger, Ward's noted the new Power Stroke as "a magnificent piece of machinery, arguably finest heavy-duty pickup diesel of the modern era."

The Power Stroke engine is exclusively available in Ford's Heavy-Duty F-Series, which are readily available at Ford of Clermont, your best source for new Fords in Florida.

2011 Ford Explorer coming to Ford of Clermont this winter

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Leading Florida dealer Ford of Clermont is getting ready for the launch of the new 2011 Ford Explorer. While continuing its proud 20-year legacy as Ford's mainstream family SUV, the new Explorer has undergone marked changes that make it even better suited to its purpose.

The 2011 Explorer is new down to the core, sitting on a wholly different platform underneath, and now built with unibody construction methods. The result is a lighter body, greater agility, and a more car-like driving feel. The Explorer also inherits a fresh pair of engines -- a 3.5-liter V6 whose 290 horsepower can outaccelerate any Explorer from years past, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder that's expected to make the Explorer the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class. The switch from rear- to front-wheel-drive aids efficiency and traction alike, while the optional new all-wheel-drive system employs a user-friendly Terrain Management system, giving the choice of four intuitive settings (Normal, Sand, Mud, Snow) that relieve the driver of distractions.

Thanks to its enlarged body, the Explorer's cabin now treats all six (or seven) of its passengers to a wealth of space and comfort. A high-tech dash features jazzed-up lighting and a standard LCD screen. Finally, the Explorer has an outstanding arsenal of safety features. In addition to AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability Control, there's a Curve Control system that brakes in case a driver takes a corner too fast, and an optional Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert to make backing up more secure. Should the worst occur, the Explorer also has an SOS Post-Crash Alert system, curtain side airbags, a child-sensing front airbag, and inflatable rear seatbelts that help distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the body.

Right around New Year's, the safer, faster, friendier, and more frugal 2011 Explorer will be landing at Ford of Clermont, your best resource for new and used Fords in central Florida.

2011 Ford Mustang V-6 ranked better than Camaro V-6

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

There's good news for all Ford fans from Ford of Clermont, your nearby Ford car dealer in Clermont, Florida (FL). The 2011 Ford Mustang powered by a robust 3.7 Liter V-6 engine rated at 305 hp, has outperformed the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Consumer Reports (CR) magazine has found that Mustang's V-6 engine is more refined than the Camaro's V-6. In a face-off, the ace Mustang V-6 delivered both superior acceleration and better fuel economy than the Camaro. The Mustang, which has a new gearbox and different steering for 2011 is the more agile and enjoyable car to drive of the two, the magazine says in its October issue.

Boasting a new 6-speed manual transmission and steering tweaks, the Mustang is able to push out more than 300 horsepower. The Camaro did not qualify for this rating as it is too new to have a track record for reliability. Further, CR points out that today's Mustang V-6 outperforms in nearly every measurable way as did the legendary 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, a V-8-powered champ of the muscle car era.

Ford of Clermont, the leading Ford car dealer in Clermont, Florida, which offers the new 2011 Ford Fiesta in its new vehicle inventory, is proud of the fact that the new Ford Fiesta is the first mini-car to get the top ranking since IIHS introduced new roof crash requirements to its rating system.
